Winona Area Likely to Miss Out on White Christmas

By TJ Dec 22, 2021 | 11:36 AM

(KWNO)-The Winona area is likely to have a brown Christmas this year.

After a run of historically warm weather earlier this month, the National Weather Service La Crosse (NWS) says the potential for accumulating snow before Dec. 25 is limited and likely confined to the northern portions of Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Meteorologists define a white Christmas as at least one inch of snow being on the ground or snow falling during the day. NOAA climatology stats say that happens 60-80% of the time.

There is a slim chance for Winona to get some snow on Christmas. The NWS forecast shows a 20% chance of snow for Christmas Day.
