WINONA, Minn. (KWNO)-The Greater Minnesota Regional Parks and Trail Commission is recommending the legislature approve a $403,000 legacy grant to fund Phase II of the Bluff Traverse Trail project in Winona.
Outdoor Recreation Coordinator Alicia Lano told Winona City Councilmembers Monday the grant with $101,000 of city funds will cover trailhead improvements at the west end of Wincrest Dr. and two new trails in Bluffside Park.
She says the grant must first be approved by the DNR and hopes work can begin in 2022. Lano said funding from the city, state, and citizen donations has given the project a budget of over $1.2 million.
