(KWNO)-It’s homecoming week at Winona Area Public Schools (WAPS).
The week features dress-up days and assemblies. which are welcomed sights after being mostly called off last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The big celebration is Friday night when a parade begins at the high school at 5:30 p.m. and ends at Paul Giel Field just in time for kickoff between the Winhawks and Albert Lea.
WAPS Communications Coordinator John Casper says the parade highlights clubs and other activity groups within the district.
“I just want to put a plug in for the community to support all of these different student groups who really have kind of missed out on a lost over the last year,” Casper said. “It would be awesome to see Baker [street] lined up and down with members of town just to support the students.”
The festivities conclude on Saturday with the WAPS Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
