(MNN)-A stretch of Highway 58 in Zumbrota will be formally dedicated Saturday in memory of longtime police officer and firefighter Gary Schroeder Junior. Schroeder served the Zumbrota community for 18 years before medically retiring from the police department in 2020. He later became an advocate for mental health services for first responders while battling job-related PTSD. Schroeder died by suicide in 2023. The Legislature approved the roadway the Gary L. Schroeder, Jr. Memorial Highway earlier this year. Saturday’s dedication begins at 11 a.m. at the Zumbrota Fire Station.
