Detour of Hwy 61 ramp to westbound I-90 postponed to Sept. 9 near Dakota because of rain

Sep 8, 2026 | 10:22 AM

(KWNO)-The 12-hour detour of the ramp to westbound Interstate 90 from Highway 61 near Dakota in Winona County is postponed one day to 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 9 because of rainy conditions, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Vehicles on Highway 61 wanting to each westbound I-90 will be detoured onto eastbound I-90 to Exit 273A at Dresbach, cross under the highway and return to westbound I-90. The detour will be removed once work is completed that day. The detour is required because construction crews are paving on I-90 in the area of the ramp.
This work is part of the I-90 project between Nodine and Dakota that began May 4. I-90 resurfacing, I-90 westbound bridge replacement over Winona County Road 101 and other road and safety improvements are part of this project.
Other detours that remain in place:
  • Winona County Road 101 is closed and detoured at the I-90 westbound bridge through mid-October. The detour route is Winona County Road 12 west at Dakota to Dakota Valley Drive east.
