(KWMN)- The #1 Cochrane-Fountain City Pirates travel to Eau Claire County to take on the Agusta Beavers in week three of the WIAA football season.
The Pirates have so far started the year off eerily similar to the 2025 campaign; back-to-back shutouts over the exact same opponents with the exact same scores (35-0 vs. Brookwood and 41-0 vs. Royall). In the game against Royall, the Pirates won largely through the air instead of on the ground, a sharp difference from the four rushing TDs in the season opener against Brookwood. QB Parker Kujak threw for 145 yards and three TDs, completing five passes on seven attempts. Aidan Lisowski made his presence known however, rushing for three TDs on 146 yards. Grant Yapp was the go-to target for Kujak, with 84 yards and two receiving TDs, while Ethan Holzer put the final Nail in the coffin with a 25-yard TD in the fourth quarter. CFC stays at #1 in the Division 7 rankings.
Augusta is off to a rockier start, with a 0-2 record through two weeks. Their most recent game resulted in a heart-breaking 26-22 loss at home against Elmwood-Plum City. Starting QB James Shong threw for 59 yards and one passing TD, while JR RB Rylee Mickelson rushed for 141 yards and one rushing TD. Nathan Atchison led the way defensively with 11 tackles and one tackle for loss.
These two teams saw each other last season in week four, a 54-0 win for the Pirates. Parker Kujak attempted just three passes, and completed one for 14 yards, but it was largely a day won on the ground. Current Pirates Audi Schwanke, Maverick Arneson, and Aidan Lisowski combined for 192 yards and three rushing TDs. CFC’s defense combined for four TFL, and 59 tackles total on the day. They never allowed Augusta in the redzone for the entire game.
