Aug 4, 2026 | 10:00 AM

Mike Bork, 84, passed away at home on July 28, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of hard work, unwavering devotion to his family, and countless memories that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Born at his parents’ home in Fountain City, Wisconsin, on May 28, 1942, to George and Helen Bork, Mike grew up with a love for the land that would stay with him throughout his life. Farming wasn’t simply his occupation, it was his passion. He was happiest climbing onto a tractor, working the land, and watching the crops grow.

On May 2, 1964, Mike married the love of his life, Shirley Ann Bohlinger. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and hard work, raising six children and creating a home filled with laughter and lasting memories. They enjoyed sharing everyday life together. From family dinners to nighttime tv with popcorn, their love continued to grow. Outside of the home, Mike and Shirley shared a passion for polka dancing. Many Saturday nights they could be found at the Hilltop Bar and Ballroom effortlessly dancing the hop polka around the dance floor.

Although farming occupied most of his days, Mike set aside some time for other joys in his life. Mike loved participating each year in the Old Time Farm Fest in Fountain City. It was during this time he started his tractor collection and participated in many tractor parades traveling across the area. He was also an avid deer hunter. Mike could think like the deer and seemed to always know which way they would go. His ability to lead the hunting party, shoot the most deer, and make some of the most incredible shots was never in doubt.

Mike was an active member in his community. He served for many years as a member of the Town of Buffalo Board devoting countless hours to make the area better. But more importantly, he knew and cared for everyone. He was always the first to lend a helping hand to neighbors and friends, never hesitating to offer his time or skills wherever they were needed. His ability to make friends and socialize with others was one of his many strengths.

Above all else, Mike loved his family. Nothing brought him greater joy than watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow. His warm smile combined with his friendly wink, let everyone know that no matter the situation, everything was going to be alright.

Mike is lovingly survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Shirley; his children, Cynthia (Douglas) Wolfe, Sue (David) Wolfe, Dick (Elizabeth) Bork, Amy (Lee) Gossen, and Jeffrey (Gina) Bork; his daughter-in-law, Darcy (Steven) Bork; 16 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 3 step great-grandchildren, and his sisters, Jeanne Servais, Marlene Rolbiecki, and Janice Knott.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Steven, and by his parents, George and Helen.

A memorial service celebrating Mike’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 10th, 2026, at Hoff Celebration of Life Center, 3480 Service Drive, Goodview, Minnesota. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. prior to the service. Hoff Celebration of Life Center is assisting the family.
