Chiefs Look to Bounce Back Diamondbacks in the Snake Pit

The Winona Chiefs (2-2) will travel to Kasson to face the Dodge County Diamondbacks (0-1) on Wednesday night for their second straight road game.

Chiefs, coming off a 7-6 loss to the Greyhounds, look to start the game off fast after trailing 4-0 after one against Austin. Cole Schossow was the top performer for Winona, going 2-3 with a two-RBI triple in the fifth inning and a leadoff double in the seventh. He scored the first and final run for the Chiefs in Marcusen Park.

Carson Jones continued to be the most consistent batter for the Chiefs, going 2-5 with scoring doubles in the fourth and ninth inning. He leads the team in batting average with a .429 (6-14). Jake French and Schossow just behind him at .364 (4-11).

Chiefs allowed nine hits and seven runs on Sunday both second most in their first four contests. With two appearances, Tucker Merchlewitz leads the team in ERA (2.45) and strikeouts (12). He went one for three against Austin for to boost his batting average (.222).

Dodge County lost to Stewartville-Racine 3-1 on May 29th in Stewartville. They seek their first win of the 2026 season, while the Chiefs wish to earn their first successful road trip in Twin Rivers action. Last time these teams faced, the Chiefs defeated the Diamondbacks 10-0 in Red Wing on August 3rd, 2025.
