(KWMN)- The #1 seed Cotter Ramblers run-ruled the #16 seed GMLOK Bulldogs behind an eight-run 5th inning, for a final score of 10-0.
Avery Tillman started on the mound for the Ramblers, pitching the first two innings and holding the Bulldogs to just one hit in the 2nd, while picking up two strikeouts. Vince Frisch came in to go the next three innings and started his tenure on the mound by striking out looking four straight batters, for five total. Macs Nisbit got the final inning and struck out the first two to send the Ramblers home happy.
The first run scored of the game (and eventual game-winner) came across in the bottom of the fourth. KJ Kreidermacher reached on a walk and then advanced to third after a sacrifice fly from Donny Baures. While on third, a balk by the Bulldogs’ pitcher sent him home for the eventual game-winner.
After a three-up-three-down top of the fifth, Cotter got right back to work on offense. Daniel Gaedy led off with a triple and then was joined on the basepath on a single from Lewi Shira. Rawson Sullivan reached first on a HBP, and then both Shira and Gaedy scored after an RBI double from Will Peterson. With two runners on, Dane Guzzo belted an RBI double of his own, scoring both Peterson and Sullivan. Guzzo came across the plate after a wild pitch got by the Bulldogs’ catcher, before Devin Korder did the same a batter later.
Jameson Lynch reached first on a walk and then was replaced at first by Thomas Pterson. After Gaedy reached first for the second time in the inning on a walk, both Peterson and Gaedy were sent home by an RBI single from Lewi Shira. The Ramblers would leave the bases loaded, but after another three-up-three-down top of the sixth, The Ramblers would put their first two batters on base, via a lead-off single from KJ Kreidermacher and a walk from Devin Korder. Donny Baures knocked out an RBI single that scored Kreidermacher for the 10th and final run of the game.
The Rambler will face the Plainview-Elgin-Millville Bulldogs on Saturday, at 1:00PM. #9 seed PEM defeated #8 seed La Crescent-Hokah by a score of 3-2.
