(KWMN)- The Cotter Ramblers (15-2) pushed the streak out to seven games, after defeating the Lewiston-Altura Cardinals 4-2.
Despite allowing seven hits and six walks, the Ramblers hold the Cardinals scoreless in five separate innings. The Cardinals left nine runners on the base-paths through seven innings at the plate, with four left stranded at third base.
Lewi Shira’s only hit of the game knocked in the first two runs for either squad, KJ Kreidermacher and Dane Guzzo. The eventual game-winning run was scored by leadoff-man Rawson Sullivan. Sullivan had reached first on a single, but then advanced to second on a fielder’s choice by Will Pterson. Two consecutive wild pitches saw Sullivan score the third run of the game for the Ramblers.
Cotter wuldn’t get back into the score sheet until the bottom of the 6th, With Devin Korder getting a leadoff single. After advancing to third via a fielder’s choice, Daniel Gaedy pinch-hit a single to add the insurance run.
On the mound, Macs Nisbit picked up the win, after one-and-a-third innings of work, allowing two runs (both earned) four hits, and one strikeout. Vince Frisch escaped a bases loaded jam to propel the Ramblers to the seventh, where Dane Guzzo shut the door to pick up the save. The final out came on a pick-off move, Guzzo to Moses O’Brien, for the Ramblers’ 15th win of the season.
The Ramblers travel to Poppitz Field to face Holy Family and Rochester Lourdes in an in season tournament, on Saturday May 9th.
