(KWNO)-It was so loud, you would swear you were at WrestleMania at Madison Square Garden. But it was the cheers of the student body at the Winona Middle School Auditorium which was packed to capacity Thursday afternoon.
The reason for the deafening roar was the visiting WWE Superstars in town. Women’s US Champion Tiffany Stratton, Chad Gable, Maxxine Dupri, and Otis all made WWE style entrances into the Auditorium before giving the students and faculty lessons in life, sports, encouragement and motivation.
The superstars answered questions from a Winona student, helping all in attendance realize they are just like everybody else and dealt with the same struggles they do such as being shy, struggling with schoolwork, and staying motivated when have no energy to move forward.
“There is no lose, you either win or you learn,” said Stratton, a former Prior Lake gymnast turned pro-wrestler, to a thunderous applause.
“Determination before motivation,” added Gable, also a Minnesota native from St Michael, “without the determination, the motivation fades.”
The superstars also spent time visiting earlier in the day with students from Cotter and Home & Community Options. HCO was the recipient of the WWE Community Championship Grant which was presented during their visit.
“Putting a smile on kids’ faces, having a good time, the kids were rowdy,” Otis said. “We love to see it, we always love a good crowd here, there’s always a good crowd in the state of Minnesota, BABE.”
Dupri, agreed, “There’s nothing better than a school like this when you get to feel that energy. They just seriously bring the best out in us.”
Winona Middle School Principal Dave Anderson was even presented with his very own WWE Championship Belt to remember the occasion.
The visits serve as community outreach ahead of WWE’s SummerSlam event, scheduled for Aug. 1-2 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
