Winona County Road 37 closing Monday for several months

(KWNO)-Winona County Road 37 near Crystal Spring will close to all traffic starting Monday March 2. The bridge on County Road 26 just east of State Highway 74 in Elba is currently being replaced. CR 37, which according to the Winona County Highway Department was serving as an “unofficial detour” during the project, will have to shut down to preserve the roadway. Heavy traffic during freeze-thaw cycles and spring thaw conditions could damage the road. The closure of CR 37 is expected to last into May.

The bridge construction project will continue into July. Drivers should follow the posted detour, rerouting them from Elba south onto State Highway 74 to St. Charles, east on US Highway 14 to Winona County Road 33 and north on County Road 33 to Altura.
