The 2025 Cochrane-Fountain City Pirates
(KWMN)- Cochrane-Fountain City (13-0) will face Kenosha-St. Joseph (13-0) Thursday the 20th at 10:00AM at Camp Randall Stadium.
The Winona Sports Network will broadcast the action, starting at 9:45AM.
The Cochrane-Fountain City Pirates advanced to the state championship game for the first time in their school’s history with a 17-14 win over Oshkosh Lourdes last Friday. The Pirates will face the Kenosha-St. Joseph Lancers for the first state title in either school’s history.
First year athletic director Evan Pagel says that, “Cochrane-Fountain city is having a historical football season. The performances on the field have been amazing, but the character that our student-athletes have been able to show throughout the past 14 weeks have been even more amazing to be a part of.”
Pagel praises head coach Jesse Cyrus, saying that, “Coach Cyrus is a true leader of men. These boys work hard for him, and he has taught them to appreciate each other.”
The Pirate’s have a big game in front of them, but Coach Cyrus is trying to keep things calm. “We are trying to keep it as normal as possible with the mindset of another week of football.”
Coach Cyrus also says that, “We also understand the competition we are going to face. You have to earn every yard and fight for every inch. There is a state title on the line.”
Evan Pagel adds on, saying, “our boys are anxious to put a nice punctuation on their season, and it will take everything they have to beat the talented Kenosha St. Joseph’s Football Team, ee have many weapons that can hurt the opposing team’s defense, and these boys have been great with supporting each other on any given night.”
They face the 13-0 Kenosha-St. Joseph Lancers, who are also in the middle of a historic season themselves. The Lancers have made it back to the state championship game for the first time in 24 years. They first made the state title game in 2001, where they were runners-up to Edgar for the D5 title.
The Lancers come back with a vengeance. They were kept out of the title game last season by Potosi-Cassville in the semifinal game, where they fell 26-15. The Lancers have gotten the last laugh, as they clinched a title game appearance with a 28-0 route over Potosi-Cassville last Friday.
The 2025 Division 7 State Championship game will kick off at 10:00AM on Thursday, November 20th. KWMN 99.3 will have full coverage beginning at 9:45, you can tune in at 99.3FM or by using the link below:
