Grant will help build a greenhouse at Winona Middle School

(KWNO)-The Foundation for Winona Area Public Schools has announced two winners of $5000 “Dare to Dream” grants to build a greenhouse at Winona Middle School.  The DEEDs (Discover, Explore, Engage, Develop) program at WMS is collaborating with the Advanced Woodworking Class at Winona Senior High School to build the greenhouse that will produce plants to be sold in a student-run store.

A statement from Foundation for WAPS says building the greenhouse and managing the store will help students “gain authentic experience in professional communication, time management, budgeting, marketing, and collaborative teamwork to enrich classroom experiences.” Every year the Foundation offers a $5000 grant to WAPS employees to support innovation and creativity. A gift from Fastenal allowed for a second grant this year.
