No fireworks are safe; doctors urge people not to light them off this 4th of July

(MNN)-Doctors are urging people not to light off fireworks this Fourth of July holiday. In Minnesota exploding or flying fireworks are illegal but according to medical experts no fireworks are safe.

“There were 700 emergency room visits related to just the use of sparklers. And we think of those as being pretty benign. Sparklers have been associated with injuries to little kids. I don’t think we can look at any of them and consider them to be safe,” says Minnesota Medical Association president-elect Doctor Lisa Mattson.

Mattson says young people ages 15 to 19 suffer the most fireworks-related injuries.
