(KWNO)-Two people dressed in all black and wearing ski masks attacked a 19-year-old man in Lake Park on Tuesday night. A person who witnessed the attack called police who arrived to find the man near the playground equipment with his hands and feet bound with duct tape. He had allegedly been beaten with a metal pipe and had cuts and bruises over much of his body.
The victim told officers he was at the park to meet a woman when he was attacked. The investigation is ongoing, but a Winona Police Department spokesperson said the woman may have told 19-year-old Elias Workman that the victim, who she had a prior relationship with, had assaulted her several months ago to which Workman replied he “would take care of it.”
Officers arrested Workman at a residence and found possible evidence of his involvement in the assault. Investigators also confiscated three phones and are sorting through digital evidence to piece together what happened. The second attacker has not been identified yet, and the woman has not been arrested or charged with a crime.
