(KWNO)-The Wabasha woman who lied to investigators about crashing into an Amish buggy has been sentenced to three months in jail and four years of probation. In September 2023 near Stewartville, Samantha Peterson allegedly crashed her vehicle into an Amish buggy killing 7-year-old Wilam Miller and 11-year-old Irma Miller and seriously injuring two of their siblings. Peterson was high on methamphetamine and called her twin sister Sarah Peterson who arrived at the crash site before police and told officers she was driving. Sarah took a plea deal dropping 14 other counts in exchange for two felony counts of criminal vehicular operation. Samantha faces 17 charges, including criminal vehicular homicide.
