(KWMN)- Last Thursday, Tim Gleason and Winona Senior High announced in a press release that Gleason will be stepping down as Head Basketball Coach for the Winhawk Girls after 19 seasons in charge.

Including the time spent as an assistant, Gleason will end a 31-year tenure on the sidelines.

“It has been a pleasure and an honor to coach so many incredible young women,” Gleason said in the press release. “Women who have gone on to begin families and careers and make the world a better place, just like they did at Winona Senior High. I have learned so much from them.”

Gleason helped lead the program to its greatest heights — back-to-back Class AAA state championship games in 2016 and 2017, as well as a Big 9 Conference title in 2017. He was named the Minnesota State High School Coaches Association Class AAA state coach of the year in 2016.

Gleason joined the WSN on Upon Further Review to have an in-depth discussion about his decision and what’s next.
