Governor Tim Walz has announced his health care plan to hold health insurance providers more accountable, save taxpayer dollars and lower health insurance costs. This plan includes doubling the surcharge health providers would pay, all in anticipation of federal cuts that could be coming to the state.
“This is a case where the state can and will shore up against some of the most drastic and quiet honestly the most cruel cuts coming out of federal government. This is an opportunity for Minnesota to deliver on that high quality care,” says Walz.
The Trump Administration is proposing $880 billion in cuts to federal Medicaid through 2034. Minnesota receives around $12 billion a year for Medicaid expenses.
