Feb 21, 2025 | 10:25 AM

Clarence “Butch” Hemmelman, a beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on February 18, 2025, at the age of 80, with his daughters by his side.

In 1975, Butch married the love of his life, Sheri, in St. Charles, MN. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and a retired member of the Goodview Fire Department.

Butch had a passion for sports that shone brightly in his younger years. Whether it was excelling on the golf course, striking down pins at the bowling alley, or dominating the basketball court, his competitive spirit and love for the game inspired those around him. He relished outdoor adventures such as hunting, fishing, and camping. In his later years he enjoyed watching Aliya and Sophia play hockey. He rarely missed a game at Bud King. He also enjoyed hearing all about Madison and Aislin’s softball games. He found joy in simpler pleasures too, like playing marbles with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughters, Staci (Steve) Gricius and Holly (Jeff) Gagen; granddaughters, Madison and Aislin Gagen and Aliya and Sophia Gricius; siblings, Robert (Fran) Hemmelman, Carol Cizak, and David Hemmelman; brothers-in-law, Scott (Judy) Smith, Rollie Smith; sister-in-law, Mary Hemmelman; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sheri Hemmelman; his parents; younger brother, Jimmy; and in-laws, Irv and Bette Smith.

A Celebration of his life will be 2 p.m., Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Hoff Celebration of Life Center – Goodview. Visitation will be 12 p.m., until the time of the service.

Hoff Celebration of Life Center is assisting the family.
