Gerald Alan “Jerry” McNulty, age 64, of Winona, MN, died January 15, 2025 at his home.
Gerald “Jerry” was born July 1, 1960, to Nora and Everette McNulty in West Union, IA. From a young age, Jerry had a passion for electronics, which led him to study electronics at a vo-tech college in Waterloo, IA, with dreams of becoming a TV repairman. Despite the challenges of finding work, Jerry’s determination took him to the oil fields of Oklahoma, where he found a job as a semi driver.
Jerry’s journey eventually brought him back to Iowa and Minnesota, where he met Sylvia Smith. He embraced Sylvia’s daughter, Amanda, as his own, forming a bond that would last a lifetime. Jerry’s career spanned various roles including 11 years at Winona Industries, and 27 years at Benchmark Electronics.
Jerry’s greatest joy came from spending time with his daughter, Amanda, and her children, Livia and Logen. He loved traveling, exploring new places, playing computer games, and watching science fiction movies. Jerry’s heart was always open to animals, and he cherished the companionship of many dogs and cats over the years.
Jerry is survived by his siblings: Karen Bement, Joann Beenken, James McNulty, and Kevin McNulty; daughter, Amanda Smith; and grandchildren: Livia Stark and Logen Stark.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Diane Nelson
Jerry will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his adventurous spirit, and his kind heart. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A funeral service for Gerald will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at 11am at Hoff Celebration of Life Center – Winona, MN, with Rev. Russell Scepaniak officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 21, from 4:00 – 6:00pm, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be Thursday, January 23, at 10am at Mount Calvary Cemetery in West Union, IA. Hoff Celebration of Life Center – Winona is assisting the family.
