Arlan (Arlie) Jon Herber, 67 of Rollingstone passed on January 11, 2025 at home surrounded by family. Arlie was born on December 21, 1957 in Wabasha, MN to Ralph and Dorothy (Jereczek) Herber. Arlie spent his childhood on the family farm in Rollingstone. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1976 and attended Winona Vo-Tech for one year.

Arlie was a hardworking man who always had dirt under his nails and was certainly not one to sit still. In the early 1980’s, he operated Herber Express running his semi with loads from coast to coast. He also worked construction with his brother-in-law, building many homes in Rollingstone, including his own. In 1991, he started AJ’s Repairable’s, where he rebuilt Ford and Dodge trucks.

Arlie had a vibrant personality and loved to throw a good party, many of which included live bands and lots of mischief.

In 1995, he met Lisa Parker in Minneapolis. They were married in 1997 in Haugan, Montana. His city girl became his country wife and the two of them spent many years raising cattle and tending to their numerous gardens. He always had plenty of harvest to share with family and friends. Arlie loved digging up fields with his John Deere and planting food plots as a member of the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association. He adored the Rocky Mountains and was a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Arlie enjoyed many hunting trips out west in Montana, Wyoming and Idaho.

In 2003, Arlie and Lisa started West End Printing in Goodview. They loved being together both at work and at home. Affectionately nicknamed MacGyver by his father-in-law, Arlie could fix or rig just about anything that was broken. He had an extremely big heart along with a soft spot for cats. He was always willing to lend a hand to someone in need. A few years back on his way to work, he noticed an older Ford Explorer with a broken window. After driving by for a week or so, he told his wife “I have one of those in the shed that will fit.” He set the window next to the vehicle with a note that said, “Hope this helps you out.”

Arlie was a kind and gentle people person. He enjoyed being active in the community as supervisor for Norton Township and serving on the Winona County Planning Commission for many years.

Arlie is survived by his wife Lisa of Rollingstone, son Max of Boulder, CO, daughter Sophie of Rochester, MN, mother Dorothy of Winona, sister Jo Dailey, brothers Dewey (Cindy) Herber, Scott (Michelle) Herber, Mike Herber, Charlie Herber, mother-in-law Linda Parker, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his father Ralph, brother Milo, and father-in-law Bill Parker.

The family would like to thank the loving team at St Croix Hospice for making his final time on the farm peaceful. Extra special thanks to Nicole and Taylor for their extraordinary compassion and support.

Visitation will be held at Fawcett Junker Funeral Home, Winona on Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 4:00 pm -7:00 pm and Friday, January 17, 2025 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm with a memorial service starting at 1:00 pm.
