A new Minnesota license plate featuring a retro design has gained significant popularity in its first year. According to the state’s Driver and Vehicle Services Division, over 256,000 blackout license plates were sold between January 1 and December 31. State officials noted that these year-end sales far exceeded the expected total of around 160,000 plates. In addition to the blackout plates, six other new designs were introduced last year, with the Minnesota Vikings plate being the second most popular, selling just under 5,800 units.
