(KWNO)-Adam Fravel on Tuesday afternoon received a life sentence without the possibility of parole for the murder of Madeline Kingsbury. Fravel was convicted in November on all four counts against him, including first-degree murder. Kingsbury disappeared from the Winona area in March 2023 and her body was later found in a culvert near Mabel. Her body was wrapped in a sheet and found by a deputy who noticed a large gathering of flies. Kingsbury was Fravel’s ex-girlfriend and is the mother of their two children.
At sentencing on Tuesday in Winona County Court, several of Kingsbury’s family members read victim impact statements. David Kingsbury, Madeline’s father, called Fravel “pure evil” and Madeline’s sister Megan Hancock said it was “absolute torture” not knowing what happened to Madeline. When Fravel was given the opportunity to speak he said, “I never caused harm to Maddie and I am innocent.” Fravel’s attorney Zach Bauer said Fravel will appeal the verdict.
