Winhawk Football Warms Up Ahead of Matchup With Mound Westonka

(KWMN)-The Winona Senior High football team will return to action tonight to try and get back on track after three straight losses, taking on Kasson-Mantorville at 7:00 p.m. from Paul Giel Field.

Last Friday night the Winhawks fell short on the road to St. Croix Lutheran, 36-23. Deion Prolo accounted for two touchdowns, while Zakari Epps returned a kickoff for the other of three total touchdowns.

The offense has struggled as of late for Winona, highlighted by last week’s inability to find success on the ground in the run game. Jaden Blanck, Senior running back, is typically the bright spot of this offense. He was held in check last week. They’ll have to be effective tonight in order to stick with a potent offense in the Kasson-Mantorville Komets, who’ve scored 102 points in their three wins this season.

The Komets possess a run-heavy offense in the Wing-T formation. With an ability to run the triple option out of it, play action, and downhill running it causes frets to plenty of defenses in the conference, specifically Winona, who’re winless vs. KM since 2019.

Both the offensive and defensive lines will play a key role for the Winhawks if they want to find a victory tonight and break a three-game skid.

Our coverage of the matchup begins at 6:30 p.m. with Kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m only on the Winona Sports Network, FM 99.3, streaming live online at winonaradio.com and on the Winona Radio App.
