(KWNO)-A Wabasha County priest is accused of defrauding his parishioners and pocketing more than $70,000. According to court records, former priest Prince Raja of Saint Felix Catholic Church told one person he needed money to pay off back taxes and another gave money to Raja to pay for Raja’s mother’s surgery.
The Diocese of Winona-Rochester issued a statement that it “became aware of Fr. Prince’s behavior on May 1, 2024” and he “resigned as pastor of St. Felix in Wabasha and St. Agnes in Kellogg on September 1, 2024.” The statement goes on to say Raja returned to his native India for “personal reasons” in July of 2024 and the diocese “is working with local law enforcement regarding this matter.”
