Minnesota DNR officials say it’s a great year to draw a bear tag. More than 2,800 bears have been harvested by hunters since the season opened on September 1st in Minnesota. That’s about a thousand more than the 1,800 taken in all of the 2023 season. The DNR reports 1,200 bears were registered on the first day, the most in a single day since 798 in 2007. Wildlife officials say 60% to 70% of the total harvest usually occurs in the first week of the bear season.
