Bears with radio collars off limits for hunters during MN bear hunt season

Minnesota’s bear hunting season opens September 1 and it continues to be popular in the state. D-N-R project manager Andy Tri says bear permit sales rose significantly last season.

“The number of applications hovered right around 26,000 again. So just as many as last year. It’s just as popular as it was and those numbers haven’t been anywhere near that high since about 2001,” says Tri

Minnesota hunters can take one bear per season. The Minnesota DNR is reminding hunters not to shoot bears marked with radio collars.
