DNR confiscated outdoor equipment auction starts today, continues through weekend

Aug 23, 2024 | 10:06 AM

The Minnesota DNR’s confiscated outdoor equipment online auction begins Friday. Glenn Schmitt with Outdoor News, a Midwest gaming newspaper, says you’ll find just about anything you could think of from bows and guns to trapping and fishing gear. Schmitt also says people can sometimes get their confiscated equipment back at the auction.

“Say you get a $1,500 bow confiscated or an expensive deer rifle. If you want it back, you know, along with paying whatever fines you got for breaking the law in the first place, you’re going to have to spend some additional money to get your items back, but yeah, that does happen,” says Schmitt.

Schmitt says in the 12 years of auctions the DNR has generated nearly $1.5 million, which goes straight into the state’s general game and fish fund. People can browse and bid online at hilleracution.com. The auction runs through 5 p.m. Monday.
