Local Legion Baseball Update, Rushford Post 94 and Winona Lejetz Sit One Month from Legion State Tournament

(KWMN)-Legion baseball teams around the area are well into their summer schedules, with the Legion State tournament coming up at the end of this month and into August.

Rushford Legion Post 94 Sr./Jr. Team 

The Post 94 senior team is comprised of most of the players on last year’s junior team that made it all the way to the State legion tournament. They sit at 3-5 on the season, with three games next week.

Last week the Trojans played a close one with St. Charles, losing in nine innings 10-8. Evan Kammerer and Evan Skalet combined for four RBIs to tie the game in the 6th inning before it went to extra frames. Grant DeGeorge led the Trojans from the plate, with a 4-of-5 night, including two runs and an RBI.

July 11th: DH @ Hayfield

The Rushford Post 94 Junior Trojans are also deep into their season. The Junior side started their year hot, winning six of their first seven games. As it stands through June, they sit at 8-5 on the year. Last week they faced PDC in a double-header in which they split. Losing the first game 7-5 and winning game number two, 6-3. Cayden Lea finished 2-of-5 with two walks in two games.

Winona Lejetz 

The Winona LeJetz are off to a solid 5-6 start to their season. Last week they went 1-2 with their lone win over Kasson Post 333. Yesterday they got back into the win column with a 3-0 shutout victory over Stewartville as Carson Jones dominated from the hill. He went six innings, struck out 10 and gave up a mere two hits with no runs. Brett Biesanz went 3-of-3 from plate with an RBI as well.
