(KWNO)-A community event aiming to help people learn more about Black and Brown heritage comes to Winona. Wednesday is Juneteenth, marking the June 19, 1865, anniversary of when General George Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas with news the Civil War was over and enslaved people were free. Our Voices is organizing the event which will feature vendors, live music and games. The event is Wednesday at Windom Park from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Juneteenth is also referred to as Jubilee Day, Emancipation Day, Freedom Day and Black Independence Day and is a federal holiday.
