First Inning:
Top:
-Simley Bats first and goes three up, three down. Winona Pitcher Lauren Kreckow delivers three outs in the top half.
Bottom:
-Mackenzi Simmons bombs one to right field for the first scores of the game. A Three-Run shot, her third of the season. Winona Leads 3-0.
End of First: Winona 3-0 Simley
2nd Inning
Top:
-Simley answers with a leadoff Homer. Winona 3-1 Simley
-Kreckow rallies back, forces a pop-up to left, strikeout, and groundout to short to get out of the inning. Simley scores one run off one hit.
Bottom:
-Graceyn Hamernik leads off the bottom of the 2nd with a K, Reese Nissalke follows with a ground-out to the pitcher, Makenna Peshon ends the inning with a flie out to left. No runs and no hits.
-End of 2nd: Winona 3-1 Simley
3rd Inning:
Top
-Kreckow pitches a leadoff walk to Simley. One on none out.
-Kreckow K’s the #2 hitter of the inning. One on One out.
-Follows it up with another three pitch K. Kreckow’s up to four K’s through 2 and 2/3 innings.
-Kreckow opens the 3rd with a walk and strikes out the next three. Up to five in the game as she nears 200 on the season (193)
Bottom
-Jillian Fitzgerald leads off the 3rd inning with a stand up double to right field. One on none out.
-Avery Engbrecht strikes out next. One on for Winona with one out.
-Olivia Poulin grounds out to third. Fitzgerald forced to stat at second. One on, Two out for Winona.
-Kreckow hits one hard enough to short to force an error, save at first; Fitzgerald to third. Two on, Two out.
-Mackenzi Simmons delivers AGAIN with another three-run homer. Puts Winona ahead 6-1. Just her 4th homer of season
-Lauren Indra follows by getting to first on another error from Simley. One on, Two out.
-Graceyn Hamernik ends the inning with a fly out.
End of 3rd: Winona 6-1 Simley
4th Inning
Top:
-Simley leads off with a single up the middle. One on none out.
-Kreckow forces a pop-out to second. One on and one out for Simley in the top of the 4th
-A trickler up the middle for Simley allows Winona to get the runner at second, but the double-play is missed by a step. One on, now two out.
-Another grounder up the middle for Simley, and an easy play for Fitzgerald to make at first for the third out. No runs, one hit for Simley.
Bottom:
-First two batters for Winona waste no time for the first two outs of the inning. Mckenna Peshon comes to the plate with two outs sends a soft grounder to first. A three up three down inning for Winona in the bottom of the 4th.
End of 4th: Winona 6-1 Simley
5th inning
-Leadoff batter for Simley sends one into right for a fly out for the first out from Kreckow. None on, one out.
-Kreckow strikes out the next better. Her sixth of the game.
-Kreckow just misses on the inside corner. Walks one on with two outs in the top of the 5th.
-A bounce back from Kreckow as she gets her 7th K of the game to end the inning. Now up to 195 on the season.
Bottom:
-Fitzgerald lines one to right for the first out of the inning. Engbrecht up next with one out
-Engbrecht just misses one, pops out to the catcher, who made a nice play in foul territory. Poulin comes to the plate with two out.
-Poulin strikes out swinging, Winona left empty in 5th.
End of 5th: Winona 6-1 Simley
6th Inning
Top:
-Kreckow delivers a beautiful off-speed pitch for strike three. Her 8th K of the ball game. One out for Simley in the top of the 6th.
-Simley’s next batter sends one in the hole on the left side of the infield. One on one out.
-Back-to-back hits for Simley as the next batter put one in the same spot. Runners on first and second, one out.
-Kreckow settles back in, strikes out the next batter for the second out. Two on two out for Simley in the top of 6.
-A pass ball allows the runners to advance. Now second and third for Simley with two outs. 1-2 count for the player at the plate.
-A line out to center goes right to Poulin’s glove, and Winona gets out of the jam. Two hits for Simley but no runs. Winona three outs away from advancing to the State semifinals.
Bottom:
-Kreckow leads off for Winona and sends a dribbler down the 3rd base line. She can’t beat out the throw and that’s the first out of the inning.
-Simmons up to the plate next, already with two homers and three RBI’s in the game. She shows bunt at first and fouls off two, then swings at the third strike for her first strikeout today. No one on, two out.
-Cheyenne Goettleman pinch hits with two outs and strikes out on an offspeed pitch. No hits and no runs for Winona as we head to the 7th, with Winona needing three outs to advance.
7th inning
Top:
-Lead off batter for Simley sends one to right center, and Poulin is there to make an astounding diving play to force the first out. One down, two to go to advance to the State semifinal
-The next batter sends a hard one to second, and the play is made. Two outs in the top of the 7th for Simley.
-Kreckow gets her ninth strikeout of the game to end the inning, and the ball game. Winona advances to the State semifinal to play Mankato East.
Final: Winona 6-1 Simley
