By Jason Melillo May 29, 2024 | 9:40 AM

(KWNO)-Two fundraising events raised more than $103,000 to upgrade technology in all WAPS classrooms. Foundation for Winona Area Public Schools on May 11 hosted the Donut Dash 4K Run/Walk and the “Come Together” Dinner. Nearly 400 people registered for the run/walk and the dinner treated guests to a Beatles themed event with music, trivia and live and silent auctions. Merchants Bank and WNB Financial were lead sponsors for both events.

The money raised will buy new generation SMART Boards for Winona Middle School, Winona Senior High School and the Winona Area Learning Center. The Foundation raised $86,000 in 2023 to purchase SMART Boards for Goodview, Jefferson and Washington-Kosciusko Elementary Schools. A smart board is an interactive tool for teachers and students that allows users to edit and annotate directly on the screen with a stylus or their finger.
