Maryann M. (Budnick) Baker

Maryann M. (Budnick) Baker, 91, of Arcadia, WI died on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, in La Crosse.

Maryann was born on May 27, 1932, to Paul and Gertrude (Schultz) Budnick of Winona, MN. Maryann graduated from Cathedral High School in 1950.

She was united in marriage to Adolph “Junior” Baker on May 12, 1956, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Winona, MN.

Maryann worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Winona for 7 years and later for Franciscan Skemp for 35 years in Arcadia.

Maryann loved her flower gardens and big vegetable garden. When the big garden got too much for her, she had her sons make her a “raised” garden so she could still enjoy those fresh vegetables. Maryann loved going to BINGO with friends. She also enjoyed her cats, including Dusty.

Maryann was a member of the Holy Family Parish PCCW and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Maryann is survived by her six children, Mary (Steve) Schaub of La Crosse, Diane (Ken) Jereczek of Pine Creek, Susan (Robb) Weltzien of Arcadia, Allan (Betty) Baker of Arcadia, Steve (Debra) Baker of Greenville, and Rick (Rachael) Baker of Whitehall; 15 grandchildren, Stephanie Towle, Michelle Gachnang, Lindsey Goyette, Gregory Schaub, Paul Jereczek, Sara Adams, Emma Licht, Mark Jereczek, Jason Weltzien, Christopher Weltzien, Joshua Weltzien, Michael Baker, Mark Baker, Daniel Baker, and Lauren Baker; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Maryann was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph Jr.; an infant daughter, Karen Jo; her parents, Paul and Gertrude; three brothers, Clarence, Stanley, and Leon; and sister, Irene Kujak.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Holy Family Parish with Reverend Kyle Laylan officiating. Family and Friends are welcome for visitation starting at 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. Maryann will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery.
