(KWMN)- Bad weather yesterday halted the progress of area teams in the section tournaments yesterday, but today should provide no hiccups in getting the games in.

Wednesday Games

Baseball

#6 Cotter vs. #11 Rochester Lourdes

-The Cotter Rambler baseball team finished the year at 13-8 after dropping their final three contests of the regular season and four of their last six. Still, it’s their best season since 2016, when they finished 13-5. Cotter is looking to get two Ws in their section for the first time since 2015, as well, and the bracket is shaped nicely for that to be possible. With a favorable matchup vs. Lourdes to kick things off–a team they’ve already beat once before this season–They’ll then face the winner of Zumbrota-Mazeppa and GMLOK. With it likely being ZM, a team they haven’t seen yet this year. Cotter would need a win tonight to ensure they reach the double-elimination portion of the section 1AA bracket.

#10 Rushford-Peterson @ #7 Lewiston-Altura

-RP Baseball finished their regular season off two wins to get their record to 7-12. A modest effort with the young roster that they have. It was good enough to earn the #10 seed and will face a Lewiston-Altura side they’ve seen before, losing 10-6 back on May 14th. They’ll have to pull off the upset tonight if they want to reach the double-elimination portion of section 1A bracket. Even so, with a win sets up a matchup with #2 Lyle-Pacelli, who’s featured in the top 10 of the Class A rankings. A tough draw for the Trojans, but should provide good experience, win or lose.

Rescheduled Games

Softball

#5 Cotter vs. #4 Zumbrota-Mazeppa Thursday at 5:00 p.m. from the Rochester Softball Complex.

-Games in section 1AA were moved to Thursday night, where they will not only play round two games, but quarterfinal games as well. They will also be playing a game into the loser’s bracket, should they get there.

#1 Winona vs. #8 Austin

-Originally scheduled for yesterday, Winona will now begin their section tournament later tonight at 5:00 p.m.

More information on both Cotter and Winona can be found in yesterday’s post.
