(KWNO)-A second man is in custody in connection with a UTV hit and run accident. Westby Police arrested 21-year-old Robert Purvis of Viroqua, charging him with first-degree reckless endangerment as party to a crime. On February 4 a UTV allegedly driven by 21-year-old Mitchell McKittrick, hit Emily Helseth who was walking on Bekkedal Avenue.

An anonymous tip led to the arrest of McKittrick shortly after the incident. He’s charged with hit and run with great bodily harm. Helseth suffered serious injuries but survived. A GoFundMe page set up for Helseth has raised more than $26,000 and an update on her recovery posted at caringbridge.org on February 24 states she “was able to get into a wheelchair and spend about fifteen minutes outside enjoying the sunshine with her family.” McKittrick and Purvis are in the Vernon County Jail.
