(KWNO)-A vehicle being pursued by Winona County Sheriff’s Office deputies on Saturday night reached speeds near 100 miles per hour. According to a spokesperson, deputies clocked the vehicle on I-90 going 98 miles per hour in a 70 miles per hour zone. A pursuit ensued on Highway 61 and when the vehicle slowed down to make a U-turn deputies managed to see what the driver looked like. During the pursuit the father of the driver contacted law enforcement to say his son was having a mental health crisis. The father, who owns the truck deputies were chasing, was unaware the pursuit was happening. Deputies ended the pursuit when the vehicle crossed into Wisconsin. The driver of the vehicle was later identified through pictures by the deputies and the vehicle was located by police in La Crosse, where the driver lives. The driver is a 22-year-old male but as of Monday law enforcement had not located him and the spokesperson would not give out his name.
