Offensive Coordinator, Isaac Fruechte, Talks with QB Group

(KWMN)- Last week, Isaac Fruechte and Winona State Football announced that Fruechte will be leaving the program, to accept a job with FCS level University of North Dakota to become their offensive coordinator.

Fruechte leaves WSU after two seasons, in which he ranked top eighth in the conference in both seasons in points per game.

Fruechte, who played at the University of Minnesota, and for the Vikings in the NFL as a wide receiver, started his coaching career in 2017 with the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He quickly made the jump to the D-II level with Northern State, and eventually made his way to Winona State. Just seven years after beginning his coaching journey as a volunteer, he’s made it to the D-I level as an offensive coordinator.

Fruechte, not only a talented play caller, was also adapt in coaching QBs. It’s where the Warriors may miss him most, with young, budding playmakers in the QB room with the likes of Junior Cole Stenstrom, Redshirt Soph. Jake Van Hulzen, Redshirt Freshman Justin Wohlers, and freshman Jackson Flottmeyer.

There’s no word yet on who may replace Fruechte, and with signing day coming on Wednesday, we may not hear much until after that.

Isaac himself joined Upon Further Review to discuss the move and his decision. Be sure to tune into Upon Further Review with Jake Litman, every weekday morning, 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. on the Winona Sports Network, 99.3 FM.
