(KWNO)-A Wisconsin man died in a car wreck on New Year’s Day in Nelson, about 35 miles northeast of Winona. According to a press release from the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a rollover crash on State Highway 25 near the intersection of Thibodeau Road in Nelson around 5:10 a.m.
An investigation revealed the car was travelling north on Highway 25 when it crossed the road and went into the ditch, hitting an embankment. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office. State Highway 25 was partially closed for four hours. The victim was 31 years old and from Durand, Wisconsin. The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office did not release his name.
