(KWNO)-An early morning crash on Tuesday closed Highway 14 in Winona. A school bus traveling westbound collided head-on with a car traveling eastbound. The three people on the bus, including a 10-year-old girl from Goodview, were not seriously injured. The driver of the car, 62-year-old Robin Rae Thelen of Winona, suffered life-threatening injuries, according to a report from the Minnesota State Patrol.

The accident happened near the intersection of Highway 14 and Ridge View Road near the top of Stockton Hill. The incident report states there was snow and ice on the road and Thelen was wearing a seat belt. She was transported to Gunderson Lutheran, according to the report.
The road was shut down in both directions and a post on the Winona Police Department’s Facebook page was asking drivers to “take an alternative route either to, or from, the city of Winona.” The Winona County Sheriff’s Office, Lewiston Ambulance, Winona Ambulance, Gundersen Air, Lewiston Fire and MnDOT were also on the scene.
