(KWNO)-Winona Fire Chief Curt Bittle is retiring. Bittle started as a firefighter in 1992, was promoted to captain in 2007 and chief in 2013.
According to the fire department’s Facebook page Bittle worked hard to encourage fire personnel to become nationally registered paramedics. He also took on the role of City Emergency Manager in 2018 and in 2021 led efforts to administer COVID-19 vaccines throughout the Winona community. A retirement ceremony will be held at Winona City Hall Council Chambers on Monday, October 30.
Joel Corcoran will be promoted to fire chief. He’s been with the department since 1997 and assistant chief since 2016.
