(KWNO)-A man in a Madison, Wisconsin mental health facility says he murdered a La Crosse County woman almost 40 years ago. Terry Dolowy went missing from her Barre Mills home in February 1985 and her decapitated body was found five days later in Vernon County. The man, who hasn’t been identified, told a nurse at the Mendota Mental Health Center he killed Dolowy. A Madison television station reports that a Vernon County Sheriff’s investigator confirmed the man was a friend of Dolowy’s fiancĂ©. The investigator also said the man previously claimed he was involved with Dolowy’s death but law enforcement has been unable to link him to the murder and has no evidence he was around Dolowy when she disappeared.
