(KWNO)-The Rushford Fire Department is receiving a $2,000 grant. The money is awarded through Minnesota Energy Resources which is distributing a total of $10,000 to five fire departments throughout the state. It’s part of the organization’s annual Rewarding Responders Grant program. The money is for lifesaving equipment and Rushford FD will use it to buy battery-powered extrication equipment, according to the Minnesota Energy Resources website. The other fire departments receiving grant money are Esko, Lakeville, Pine City and Sandstone. Since 2015, Minnesota Energy Resources has donated more than $95,000 through its Rewarding Responders Grant program.
