(KWNO)-The municipal pool in Trempealeau might be leaking as much as 24,000 gallons of water a day, according to the village’s website. The statement says leaks like this are common in pools of a certain age and the leaks do not pose a safety risk. People commenting on Facebook though wondering about how much all that lost water is costing and if drain systems can handle it. The village isn’t planning to close or alter the pool schedule this summer and will assess the leaks this off-season.
The cost for repairs is unknown but the statement says the village will consider incorporating the cost into next year’s budget combining it with more than $32,000 of repairs already scheduled for the pool. The work would hopefully be completed by next spring but opening for the 2024 season could be delayed, according to the statement.
