(KWNO)-The Superior National Forest is lifting burning restrictions Monday in northeastern Minnesota, including the Boundry Water Canoe Area Wilderness. Officials say backcountry campfires will again be allowed, where previously fires were permitted only within official fire-rings at fee campgrounds. Acting Forest Management Officer Ben Roy says the area has received two to three inches of widespread rain over the last week and officials have determined “fire conditions are currently within acceptable levels to lift fire restrictions.”
