HCO adapting to better serve aging clients

(KWNO)-Home and Community Options is implementing new programs to help some of its older clients. HCO was founded in Winona more than 45 years ago.

“Many of the people that came into our agency to receive support services are still with us so they’re aging,” says HCO Health Services Director Nicole Weydt.

The challenges people with disabilities face as they age aren’t unique, just sometimes more pronounced. Among the new initiatives is designing individualized exercise programs to help people get stronger to avoid falls.

“It’s a really unique way we can make a significant impact that’s low cost and non-pharmacologic to really improve the lives of people we serve,” says Weydt.
