(KWNO)-A Winona man is charged with hit-and-run after clipping the railroad crossing safety arm with his car and then driving away. According to police, John Michael Oevering, 41 of Winona, hit the safety arm at the crossing on 6th St. on Wednesday night. Responding officers reported there was damage to the safety arm and one of the red warning lights was dangling when they arrived.
Oevering was pulled over a short distance away and told officers he was trying to beat the train when he hit the safety gate. Oevering will likely have to pay for the damage.
