(KWNO)-A woman was arrested in Winona County on Friday after fleeing from South Dakota police, according to the Winona County Sheriff’s Department. Danielle Meshel Poirier, 36 from Washington state, allegedly fled from South Dakota police into Minnesota. She was questioned by police at a gas station in western Minnesota but not arrested. On Friday night Poirier was clocked going 103 mph on I-90 near Dakota.
After being pulled over Poirier gave a fake name to officers and was arrested for DWI, speeding and giving false information to police. Law enforcement speculated Poirier was having a mental health crisis and she was eventually brought to Winona Health for an evaluation. Jeff Mueller from the Winona County Sheriff’s Department wasn’t sure if Poirier was still being held.
