Legislature bows to Mayo demands

(KWNO)-Minnesota nurses won’t have a say in staffing decisions, after that provision was cut out a bill that passed the Legislature late in the 2023 session. Pressure from Mayo Clinic to send to billions of dollars in projects to other states likely forced the hand of lawmakers.

Other health care systems in Minnesota also wanted the ‘Keeping Nurses at the Bedside Act’ removed from the bill. “Today, my heart breaks for the patients in Minnesota…. Because of the power and influence of corporate health care executives, that bill has died,” said Minnesota Nurses Association union President Mary Turner.
