(KWNO)-Theater du Mississippi is bringing ‘Angel Street’ to the stage at Winona Senior High School. The play is a dark thriller and murder-mystery set during one night at the home of wealthy couple Jack and Bella Manningham. Jonathan Roberts plays Jack Manningham.

“He’s a terrible, terrible man, a bit devious and a terrible husband,” says Roberts.

The Manningham’s marriage is one of deceit and the audience is pulled along as Mr. Manningham appears to be trying to drive his wife insane.

“Everybody wants to play a detective, everybody loves a mystery and wants to piece things together, all the clues and everybody wants to be a Sherlock Holmes, Nancy Drew type of a person,” says Lacey Korb who plays Bella Manningham.

Bella Manningham comes to realize her husband’s abuse with the appearance of a quirky detective named Rough. La Vonte Thompson, a first-time actor, plays Detective Rough.

“He’s interesting, very odd but very knowledgeable and just good at being a detective,” says Thompson.

Theatre du Mississippi started rehearsing at Winona Senior High School on Monday, moving from a smaller space. The show opens on Thursday night and production manager Kara Eggers says that short turnaround is a challenge.

“The set is changing quite a bit as well as getting lights cued and getting everything ready to go, we also have to move everything at the end of rehearsal so the school can do their classes and that cuts into our rehearsal time,” says Eggers.

‘Angel Street’ runs Thursday through Saturday at Winona Senior High. For more information go to the Theatre du Mississippi website.
